SMM11, 13 March -: Sandfire Resources spokesman Nancy Schlepp said on Monday that his proposed Black Butte underground copper project in Montana was expected to be delayed by two months because the company had to comply with new state environmental regulations, Schlepp said. The company only recently learned that. Before Black Butte can obtain final approval from the Montana Department of Environmental quality, it must change the design of the project to meet the new nitrogen non-degradation standards.

Sandfire hopes to receive a final ruling from MDEQ by December 25. Now, the schedule has been delayed to the first quarter of 2019.

Unless there are any additional unexpected delays, Schlepp said construction of the, Black Butte is still scheduled to begin in the middle and late next year after the completion of the feasibility study.
